Date of Birth

Date of Birth is a new name emerging from Bergen’s vibrant music scene. The duo – Birgitta Alida Hole and Pablo Tellez – are two experienced and versatile musicians joining forces to shape a project with a nostalgic and modern infusion of pop elegance.

Drawing inspiration from the orchestral pop and psychedelia of the ’60s and ’70s – think The Beach Boys – Date of Birth blends rich, detailed production with refined harmonies and irresistibly melodic songwriting. The result is a fresh yet timeless presence in today’s musical landscape, where references like Broadcast and Alvvays meet classical influences such as Bach and Debussy.

Hole, educated at the Grieg Academy, has made her mark with her solo project Birgitta Alida, as well as in bands like Strange Hellos and Lumikide. Tellez is known as the bassist for Young Dreams and John Olav Nilsen & Nordsjøen, two of Norway’s most influential pop acts in recent years. The pair first collaborated on Birgitta’s solo work, which received airplay and praise from outlets including BBC6 Music, NRK P13, and P2. Now, under the name Date of Birth, they take the next step together – with a debut album on the horizon and a first single that signals something truly special. Together, they write, arrange, and record all of their music at their studio in Bergen Kjøtt.

The music is produced by Pablo Tellez, and co-produced and mixed by Jørgen Træen (Sondre Lerche, Kaizers Orchestra).

Both musicians have previously performed at festivals such as Øyafestivalen and Bergenfest, in various projects. With Date of Birth, they open the door to a new sonic world – organic, melodic, and timeless.
